Wellbeing Week 2024 in St. Joseph's N.S.
What a fantastic week we had!
Mindful Monday included all classes trying out mindfulness colouring.
Thoughtful Tuesday gave us the opportunity to complete random acts of kindness around the school.
Walk it Wednesday was all about movement. We went for a walk on the canal and the senior classes even tried out a Zumba class with Ms. Doherty.
Thankful Thursday included creating a whole school gratitude tree.
Feel Good Friday finished off Wellbeing Week 2024 on a high with the children wearing slippers/cosy socks to school. We even had extra playtime at big lunch!
Well done to our wellbeing committee and Miss Hanevy for organising such an enjoyable week!!
Well-Being Week 2024
Well done to all of our Well-being ambassadors for their wonderful works of art!!
Fiona Forman Visit

We were honoured to welcome Fiona Forman, author, speaker, trainer and facilitator in the areas of well-being and Positive Psychology to our school on Thursday the 23rd of May. Fiona spoke to sixth class and gave an illuminating talk on how to build resilience for starting secondary school. Our sixth class students enjoyed their time with Fiona and learned so much. Our staff talk focused on cultivating calmness and gave so many ideas and techniques that will certainly benefit all of the students under our care. Fiona hosted an evening talk titled 'Raising Resilient Children: Approaches from Positive Psychology', which received great praise from all who attended.

Erasmus Project 2023-2024
Project Title: Promoting Well-being and Mindfulness in our School Community

Erasmus+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport
in Europe. It provides funding and support for organisations to operate projects
that encourage European exchange, co-operation and learning.
Our school was successful in procuring funding under this programme. Our
project focuses on promoting well-being and mindfulness in our school
community. Nine members of staff will take part in a wellbeing training course
in Barcelona in October 2023. Four members of staff will travel to our partner
school in Pamplona in April 2024 to job shadow. We will be viewing activities
and resources that they will be using during their wellbeing week.
We will also host our partner school to St. Joseph’s N.S. in late 2024.
November 2023
Nine member of staff travelled to Barcelona to complete the course ‘Stress
management and recognition: Key Strategies for Teachers’.

Four members of staff visited our partner school in Pamplona in April 2024.
They were invited to observe classes and take part in the school’s wellbeing
week.

Promoting Wellbeing and Mindfulness In Our School Community
At our school, we believe that mindfulness and wellbeing are important for helping our school community feel happy, safe, and ready to learn. Taking time to practice mindfulness helps us to stay calm, focus better, and understand our feelings. Wellbeing activities, like breathing exercises, outdoor play, and talking about our emotions, help us build confidence and kindness towards ourselves and others. We have engaged all stakeholders as part of our efforts to promote wellbeing and mindfulness. Select the link below to learn more....
